11 Things I’m Grateful For

1. My beautiful, loving wife.
For more than a decade, I taught thousands of people about
the importance of Loving Mirrors …
Before I ever found one for myself.
My business has doubled every year since Babette has been on board. No wonder.
2. The Internet.
I’m genuinely humbled by the fact that my books and online programs are now used in 178 countries around the world.
There is NO WAY I could have ever reached that many people without this wondrous, exasperating, miraculous connection tool called the Internet.
3. Our Customers.
Every day, people from around the world put their trust in us and our programs and products.
Every day, I read stories from people whose lives have changed as a result of using our programs.
Every day, I’m humbled by your success stories and honored by your trust.
4. My Customer Care Team.
Our Customers continually tell us that we have the best Customer Care Team in the industry.
Of that, I’m very proud and truly grateful.
5. Modern medicine.
I had terrible vision growing up (20/800), so I had to wear Coke-bottle glasses and later, irritating contact lenses.
I always dreamed of the day when I wouldn’t have to wear corrective lenses.
In the year 2000, I had LASIK surgery. It immediately changed my life.
I’ve had 20/20 vision ever since and now I get to do all the things that I never got to do as a kid (swim, water ski, wake up and see the clock by the side of the bed…)
It’s an incredible gift to be able to see – one that I’m thankful for every day.
6. Hot running water.
Sure, it sounds hokey.
But taking a nice hot shower is one of the greatest things EVER.
And of course, you know about The Shower That Changed Everything and how that turned out…
7. Indoor plumbing.
I’m not being facetious or sarcastic.
The fact is that millions of people on this planet wake up every morning and don’t have either of these two things I just mentioned.
That’s why I never take them for granted.
8. The fact that I’m a fast typist.
Charles Dickens and I share the same birthday (February 7).
Before he became the world’s most famous author, Dickens worked as a court stenographer and shorthand reporter for Parliament.
He quickly earned a reputation for being one of the fastest and most accurate shorthand writers in London.
As for me, I’m grateful that I can take typewritten notes while people are talking, which gives me the ability to go over our conversations later without worrying about missing anything.
It also freaks people out a little that I can do this, which is a side benefit.
9. Cell phones.
Yes, this will make me sound terribly old, but I do in fact remember life before cell phones.
Heck, I even remember rotary dial phones!
But there’s no question that the invention and affordability of cell phones has made our lives easier.
The key, of course, is to know when to shut them off. Like, um, when you’re talking with someone…?
10. The fact that I can read.
I am truly grateful for the gift of reading, because escaping through books is what got me through childhood.
And also because I can trace so many of the quantum leaps I’ve made in my life to a book I’ve read.
From The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People to Good to Great to Think and Grow Rich to The Tipping Point to How to Win Friends and Influence People, reading a book – and then applying what you learn in it – can change your life in ways that few other things can.
11. The fact that I can write.
For as long as I can remember, I wanted to be an author. To write books. To share my ideas with people around the world.
The truth is that I never dreamed that I would have nine published books, and that my books would be available in more than a dozen languages.
Wow…
