Taoist Tips For Troubled Times

Everything Moves in Cycles:  This is one of the most basic of Taoist thought, and the
circle that signifies the cycles of time reminds us that for every beginning, there must be an end; for every start, there must be a completion.  Thus, respect the changing of the seasons, the pulsating cyclical nature of energy and be assured that life is always a series of highs and lows, ups and downs.

Who could have predicted the COVID-19 pandemic that has influenced every country in the world?  Through it all, we must stay calm, and know that surely an end is in sight. To actualize the power of the circle, display at least six circular items such as crystal balls in your living space.

Yin & Yang – Stay in Balance:  This is a fundamental aspect of good feng shui.  Always ensure there is a good balance of these two primordial forces within your environment.  Many of you are now working from home when in the past you worked in an office, so be aware of imbalances of energy that may have inadvertently been created. Take care of dark corners with sufficient lighting and check for areas of the home may now be too yang in nature. Reduce the lighting and activity there.  When decorating, consider a blend of light bright, yang colours with darker yin colours to keep things in balance.  Eat healthy foods and create a balanced daily routine that includes exercise, worktime, meditation and family time.  Stress upsets your inner balance, so keep yin and yang in check from a mental perspective as well.

Awaken the Cosmic Chi:  Your home must always enjoy chi that is alive.  Being at home now as a result of “shelter in place” directives provides a good opportunity to clean out any stagnant chi that has settled in dark corners of your home or caused things to wither away in your garden.  There are just so many places where chi can stagnate and die.  Go through the rooms of your home and areas of your garden and reawaken the energy that has gone to sleep.  When you awaken the cosmic chi, you will feel a revitalizing in your energy.  It is especially important to wake up the positive Chi in your home when someone suddenly becomes sick.

Flowing with the Dragon’s Breath:  When chi is revitalized it begins to move again, and it is a good idea to keep it flowing slowly along a winding path.  Rearrange your furniture to create natural pathways. Do this on a regular basis to allow the dragon’s cosmic breath to move naturally and happily within your home.

Collect rainwater!
Bring in Abundance with Water:  The chi of water always brings prosperity and wealth accumulation which many are in need of right now.  When it rains, collect some rainwater outside and bring it into your home.  Use it to water your indoor plants, thus bringing the water of abundance inside.  Gather some rain-soaked soil from your garden and add it to your indoor plants as well, bringing the soil of abundance into your home.  These water rituals unite the trinity of Tien, Ti, Ren – the energies of heaven, mankind and earth, very effectively.
