Dining Room Feng Shui For Happiness & Abundance

The feng shui of your dining room is considered very important. Consider the

following tips to improve or change your dining room as necessary.

Location in the Home:  If your dining area is in the center grid or deep inside your home, it is considered an auspicious location as it signifies the family at the heart of the home.  It should always be on same level as your living room (or higher) and not too near a bedroom or toilet.  If it is near a guest bathroom or toilet, be sure to keep the door closed at all times.   Your dining room/dining table should not be below a toilet (on the floor above) and there should not be anything above that is heavy (like a piano or heavy piece of furniture) pressing down the luck of the dining area.

Walls & Mirrors:  To energize the dining room, hang beautiful pictures of flowers or ripe fruits.  A very large mirror reflecting the table is always a good idea as it effectively “doubles” the amount of food.  Mirrors, when applied properly are wonderful feng shui energizers and easy to utilize.

Always Think Abundantly:   If possible, have the Three Star Gods – Fuk, Luk and Sau in your dining area.  Some people also enjoy an image of the fat laughing Buddha as the Buddha’s fat belly symbolizes abundance.  Since abundance is the key, the amount of food on the table should be plentiful and not appear sparse or lacking. A wall mirror helps to double the amount of food on your table.  The rice urn must never be empty and the refrigerator should be full.

Your Dining Table: Chinese consider a round dining table to be best as it symbolizes the earth and everything going ahead smoothly in life. It is also the shape that represents gold, thus bringing wealth and prosperity to the household.  Seating for 6, 8, 10 or 12 is considered auspicious.  If you can add a round “lazy Susan” in the center, even better!  This raises the food off above the table. Choose a rotating “lazy Susan” with a lucky design, like the double carp to benefit all residents.   Your table can also be rectangular or square in shape – it does not have to be round.

Seating of Family and Guests:  Always try to seat family member and guests facing their best directions according to their kua numbers.  You can determine your kua number by going to www.wofs.com

Keep conversation happy and avoid arguments or heavy discussions during eating.  During the holiday season enjoy all the delicious specialties and your friends and family but eat wisely!
