“Buddha” means “awakened one.” It’s an epithet for Siddhartha Gautama, the human being
who became the Buddha we think of today. We shouldn’t forget about that quality of human-ness, which we all share. For we all share, too, the capacity for awakening to the truth of suffering and the possibility of peace. May the teachings in this Weekend Reader encourage you on the way. —Rod Meade Sperry, editor, LionsRoar.com
