Sacred Anatomy: Lesson 2: Systems Theory

systemtheory
Think back to learning about your body, your anatomy. You learned some
landmarks: arm, leg, fingers, toes, blood, veins. Then, you learned some systems theory: digestive, circulatory, nervous, reproductive, etc. Both the landmarks and the systems theory were more academic than practical: You learned your blood is pumped by your heart. You learned your blood dumps carbon in the form of carbon dioxide into your lungs. Then your learned your blood picks up oxygen from your lungs.
Did we learn that this pump and pulsation is the key? Did we learn that oxygenated, well fortified blood moving through the heart, the center, was a big part of the key to a healthy life? Or how to help it all happen with optimal performance? Did we learn how the systems were interconnected…and how to optimize the whole shebang for peak performance?
No.
Why not?
We lost perspective.
Most of us grew up in an educational culture than emphasized cognitive development over experiential ways of knowing our vast, complicated universe. We received an isolated laser sharp perspective completely disconnected from practical application. Think mind extracted from body.
This disconnected perspective in our personal systems theory has major implications for how we live. And how we age. And how we use our mind and relate to our emotions. Of course, because life has a built in evolution compulsion… and you are alive… it’s never too late to move into your home at the next level of your awareness.
What is Home in terms of sacred anatomy? That is where we are headed.

Is Home Inward or Outward?

If we want to get how who we are, and how we work, we’ve got to get our awareness well beyond our physical body. Remember part 1 of Lesson 1 is Expand. Take a minute and go big. Expand your awareness as far as you can into the cosmos. The cosmos from which you came… from which we all came. And to which we will all return. In our personal systems theory it gets impersonal pretty quick. More of this coming in the Sacred Anatomy Metaphysics Lesson.
For now – experientially tap into that you are part of something huge. Ginormous. Too big to conceive so that it blows your mind. Now that we don’t have to deal with the limitations of your cognitive apparatus, we can get where we need to go.
The basic concept of sacred anatomy is you are the cosmos. You are the planet. You are the oceans. The water inside your body came from outside your body. The oxygen in your blood was exhaled from plants. Who you are is all intertwined…and much bigger than you.
I’m going to tell you a story.

Odin and the Crux

I find the crux is in keeping perspective. In the last lesson I waxed poetic on the importance of keeping a flossed inner body throughout the day – an expanded physiological reality. In this lesson I drive home the necessity of tapping into and maintaining a ginormous cosmos-centered perspective. Odin figured this out. Not the dog…but the Norse God – the father of Thor -the god of the mysterious realms of wisdom.
Do you know the story of Odin and Yggdrasil?
Yggdrasil is an immense tree, the World Tree, and I capitalize the word World and Tree. Yggdrasil’s branches extend into the heavens and his roots grow into the yggdrasilunderworlds below. Yggdrasil connects the 9 worlds. (Yogis – think Chakras in your flossed inner body, with an extra one below and above to connect you to the outside). Yggdrasil a huge Earth-sized tree that incorporates the relative world(s) + heaven and hell. Odin has a habit of riding his horse up and down the trunk of the the World Tree. Inner body flossing come to mind?
One day, Odin hangs upside down from Yggdrasil and gets a blast of cosmo-centric awareness.
He realizes that as freaking huge as Yggdrasil is… Yggdrasil is but a drop of a tree in the ocean of deep space.
By standing right side up he’s been upside down relative to the center of the cosmos.
Now that he’s hanging upside down and has cosmos-centric perspective…he’s found the deeper center of the universe…and the deeper of his own awareness.
This was huge for Odin. And it’s been huge for me. In terms of plugging in our sacred anatomy it’s where the big peace and the big energy are sourced and replenished. It’s also the perspective that shifts our cellular relationship to stress. Meaning – you stop living in a subtle resistance to life, and tap into a more easeful relationship with life itself. It’s the change that changes everything.
Most humans I’ve met haven’t gotten the blast that woke up Odin.
What often happens is that we disconnected from the bigger picture. Disconnect from the 5 elements – that the water outside our body and inside our body is the same. That the sunlight that feeds the plants that becomes the fabric and energy of our body is a simple flow chart. That if we want to take care of who we are – we have to think big. We have to get that our personal systems theory is very impersonal and very big.
When we live outside of this perspective a resistance to life arises. It can be extremely subtle. It may just arise as a resistance to our day. A more shallow breathing pattern. A negativity in our relationship with our body. Or negativity in our relationships. And this creates havoc cellularly as our body experiences this as stressful. We constrict. And we close the gates and hunker down in the fortress of our own isolation.
An isolated person is lonely. An isolated cell is less intelligent. Intelligence is activated by connectivity and interconnectivity. When we floss our center and connect to our bigger center as the expanding universe… the gateways open. We get connected. Connected is smarter. And connected, by definition of connecting two points, generates pulsation. Spanda. This pulsation generates an easeful reality in the moment. And a nice side benefit is that this perspective slows the aging process through accelerating cellular connection and regeneration.
