The feng shui of the main door is absolutely essential as this is regarded as KOU, the mouth
of your home. It is here that either good or bad luck chi enters, thus it must always be protected from poison arrows that originate outside as well as inside the home.
Here is a checklist for the feng shui of the main door:
Solid Doors Opening Inward are Best |
2. The main door should be the best-looking door in the house. This doesn’t necessarily mean the largest as it should be in proportion to the rest of the home. If it is too large, it is thought that the family will lose their good fortune.
3. Your main door should be a good, solid door made of wood or other durable material that will offer protection for the home and family. If possible, avoid clear and opaque glass doors.
Check for poison arrows hitting main door |
5. If your main door faces a toilet, try to close this entry to the bathroom and create an alternative entry. When a toilet faces the main door, it sends terrible negative chi towards all good energy trying to enter the home. This is a serious problem that you should address immediately.
6. The main door should not form a straight line with the backdoor – this is a major taboo creating shar chi.
7. Hang a painting of something auspicious near the front door entry to enhance the energy – peonies, chrysanthemums or anything representing good fortune.
8. Place two beautiful good fortune plants on either side of the main door (such as the Chinese money plant) to raise the yang energy and attract good fortune. Choose plants with round leaves rather than long pointed leaves and definitely do not have plants with thorns.
9. Open shelving in front of the main door will have the effect of slicing through and destroying good energy.
