September is a great month to take a step back and recalibrate

Numerologically we experience repeated nine-year cycles, called Personal Year cycles.

I have found that every year, September is a great month to take a step back and recalibrate because it’s a month where the energy of your individual Personal Year peaks in intensity. You can’t help but feel that you’re working with the highest octave of the theme for your year during this month. It’s as though you’ve been on a nine-month trek up a mountain and now you are at the top of that mountain and can stand there for a moment and take in your heightened, birds-eye view before you begin the descent back down the mountain and into the energy that’s headed your way with your next Personal Year. When you’re tapped in, you’ll start feeling the introduction of the new energy that is opening up for you in 2017. The months of October, November, and December are the time to finish out the current personal year mission while also starting to blend the upcoming theme into your life.

Here’s a refresher about the theme each number Personal Year brings to the plate. What is yours for 2016? And then what is your next Personal Year starting on January 1, 2017?

THIS IS HOW TO CALCULATE THE PERSONAL YEAR.

EXAMPLE:

Take the date of birth: July 22, 1988

Use only the MONTH and DAY:

July is 7

Day is 22: 2 + 2 = 4

Then use the CURRENT YEAR.

2016 = 2 + 0 + 1 + 6 = 9

7 + 4 + 9 = 11

In this example, you’re experiencing a Master Number 11/2 Personal Year.

Yet continue to digit down to a one-digit number: 11 = 1 + 1 = 2

In this example, you’d be in a 2 Personal Year with the Master 11 adding additional intensity.

Note: Some Numerologist’s consider the Personal Year to run from birthday to birthday. Others, including myself, consider the Personal Year to run from January 1 – December 31.

I love knowing my own Personal Year cycle and I also find that it is a very handy tool to know the Personal Year cycle my friends and family members are experiencing in any given year so that I can understand them better and be supportive of what they might be going through.

Here is a brief description of the overarching energies of each Personal Year.

PERSONAL YEAR READINGS 1 – 9

1 PERSONAL YEAR:

This is a year of new beginnings, independence, initiation, and achievement. It holds more clarity than last year and is the start of a new nine-year cycle. It’s time to plant the seeds for what you want to see grow and mature during the next nine-year cycle. Don’t waste it with frivolous activities or useless relationships. It can be a somewhat lonely year with feelings that a lot rests on your shoulders and only you can get it done—without help from others. And that’s true. Independence is your mantra. This is the year to begin with as much of a clean slate as you possibly can. You’ll be challenged with stepping into your individuality and fully manifesting your independence. The more you can connect with the unique off-the-beaten path aspects of yourself, the more successful you’ll be. Know there will be failures, yet the year’s designed to teach you some accelerated lessons in self-esteem, trusting yourself, and trusting your creativity.

2 PERSONAL YEAR:

This year is all about slowing down and developing patience. It’s a time where emotions and relationships take the front seat. Last year was all about you. This year is all about us, relationships, love, and patience. 2016 is a slow-moving year designed to test your trust in “right timing.” The Universe has your back, yet you might feel as though it’s snoozing on the job. It’ll feel like you’re moving three steps forward, four steps backward at any given time. Concentrate on cultivating deeper connections within your inner circle. Speak your truth gently yet firmly. It’s a fabulous time for networking, finding “the One,” or reestablishing your connection with your intimate relationship. However don’t expect anything to transpire at a rapid pace.
11/2 Personal Year: In addition to the core elements of the number 2, you have the added intensity related to the Master Number 11 offering you additional challenges. Yet the potential benefits are enormous. Along with it being a slower, relationship-oriented and emotional year, you’ll be presented with opportunities to learn profound spiritual lessons. This can manifest in every way imaginable—from coping with crisis to embracing massive success.

3 PERSONAL YEAR:

This is a year for anything and everything self-improvement related. It’s all about fun, creativity, and tapping into your expressive emotions. Take center stage. Enroll in a public speaking class or make over your image. This is your year to be out there, enhancing all aspects of your sense of creative self-expression. Understand that this can also be a year where you’ll be challenged to work on expressing your emotions clearly and effectively, so you’ll be offered plenty of opportunities to practice this feat. Ultimately the lesson of the year resides in finding your joy, developing and acting upon your creativity, and speaking your truth. You also might wrestle with some unexpected emotional highs and lows, so take it as it comes and know you can’t go wrong when you tap into your authentic feelings. 4 PERSONAL YEAR:

Get ready to batten down the hatches and get serious about your future. It’s time to work hard and sharpen your skill set. Take the time to slow down, steady your pace, and become more methodical about which goals you want to focus on. This is a more serious year requiring hard work to set the foundation for whatever you’re working on: job, relationships, health, or family. Often you’ll find yourself building a house or moving to a new home in a number 4 year. You’ll need to forgo Happy Hour and stay a little later at the office to finish up that big report or file, complete the last part of the chapter you’re writing, or think through the way you’re wanting to systematize your project. 5 PERSONAL YEAR:

The key to this year is establishing and acting on some semblance of self-discipline, otherwise you’ll get to the following year feeling like you have one big hangover. Change is your mantra and you’re getting ready for significant transitions, yet the first part of the year might have you spinning. The energy of the number 5 is about fun, adventure, and fearlessness. It’s the agent of change.

6 PERSONAL YEAR:

After your freewheeling year last year, it’s time to buckle up. It’s a year devoted to home, family, and responsibility. It’s the year to regroup, nurture, and be nurtured. 7 PERSONAL YEAR:

This year is all about delving inward. While you may see yourself functioning fairly normally, it’s a time where you’ll be heavily involved in deep inner work. This is a year where your faith and trust will be tested and you’ll feel as though you want to retreat from the static of the outside world. You’ll feel more quiet, detached, and introspective than usual, so don’t let that surprise you. It’s a year where you’re gathering data, collecting knowledge, and probing your own inner depths. Don’t push it this year—that can wait until next year when you start a three-year transition cycle. This is the year for a retreat, sabbatical, or just additional “alone” time. Not once. Not twice. But over and over again all year long. Get ready for a marathon, not a sprint. Remember to take breaks so your health doesn’t suffer. Otherwise you’re bound to experience burn out. This energy is truly intense and will bring up very real, deep issues related to your sense of empowerment and demand that you deal with them. The energy of the 8 is an amplifier, so take extra care to clean up your thoughts and follow up your intentions with action. The events of the year could leave you feeling like the ultimate victim, so don’t succumb to that type of thinking. Instead, view this year as weight training with a really strict personal trainer. You’ll be ripped, strong, and in the best shape of your life by the following year.

9 PERSONAL YEAR:

This is a year of completion, unraveling, and letting go of the old to make space for change. This change can be somewhat dramatic and tumultuous—affecting possessions, relationships, jobs, geographical location, spirituality, or health. It’s all under review this year. This is the year that’s inviting you (oh, let’s be honest, it’s forcing you) to move on to an even more expansive cycle in your life if you choose to let go and allow what’s no longer serving you to fall away. But don’t despair at all the “heaviness”—this is also a year where you can revel in the successful culmination of all that you’ve been working toward for the past eight years. It’s a time where your dreams can manifest almost instantly if you’re ready to let go of everything that’s no longer serving your best interests. It’s going to be a matter of evaluating what’s finished and no longer serving a positive function and then moving forward without a net. Needless to say, even the best of us are scared silly when it comes to change. And then to change something without knowing exactly what’s next? Ugh! Yet that’s what’s required this year. You’ll be met with pivotal opportunities to let go, surrender, and step into a new and vital cycle the following year. The trick is to let go before you know what is coming in to take its place.

The great thing about knowing where you are in your Personal Year Cycle is that you can forecast and allow yourself to work with the energy of the year rather than against it. I often describe it like this: Did you see Bridget Jones’ Diary? Do you remember the scene where Bridget thinks she’s going to a costume party and she dresses up like a Playboy bunny, only to find that it’s a black-tie cocktail party, not a costume party? Yet she must navigate hours at this party dressed as a bunny. Can you say awkward? So don’t show up to your year like Bridget shows up to that party!

Know your theme and you’ll find that you have much more success throughout the year. Or at least you’ll be able to extract deeper meaning about why things are happening they way they’re happening. Either way, knowing your Personal Year number gives you some great guidance about what your year has in store for you.
