It’s no coincidence that holiday decorations and greeting cards prominently feature angels.
After all, the holiday season is a celebration of light and love, which is exactly what the angels are all about. The angels are God’s messengers of love and light.
The Archangel Gabriel in particular is associated with Christmas because of the Annunciation of Christ’s birth to Mother Mary. So you’ll see images of Gabriel, holding the trumpet of announcements and Gabriel’s symbol of the 3 white lilies representing purety and the Holy Trinity.
Holiday traditions going back to ancient Celtic Yule holy-days, involve lighting candles to symbolize that the dark winter days are temporary. Soon enough, the sun will shine during springtime again. The candles of bygone eras, like today’s Christmas lights, are symbols of having faith that all is well.
We don’t worship angels, but we do recognize that God gave us the gift of angels to help us to be peaceful and protected. So, calling upon angels is a recognition of God’s gift of the angels. You can ask God to send you extra angels if you find yourself in a dark period during the holiday season. You can lean upon the angels’ pure light and love to elevate your faith and hope.
The angels work with Christ Jesus, and also those who are of other faiths. The angels are non-denominational and they love us all unconditionally. They’re also unlimited, egoless, and tireless because they don’t have human bodies. Angels can help everyone simultaneously, having a unique and individual experience with each person.
The angels want to help us all to be peaceful, because that’s how we achieve peace on earth. So if you’re tired, stressed, worried, or just feeling blue, please remember to ask your angels for help.
In particular, here are God’s archangels to call upon during this holiday season:
Archangel Michael: Offers strength, courage, support, and protection
Archangel Raphael: Long regarded as the angel of safe and peaceful travel, as well as the healing angel. In addition, Raphael can help to reduce or eliminate unhealthful cravings, so that you don’t overindulge at a holiday party.
Archangel Raguel: The angel of peaceful relationships, who can ensure that holiday family get-togethers are harmonious
Archangel Jophiel: The angel of beauty who can keep your mind and emotions positive AND who is brilliant at guiding holiday gift shopping excursions
Here’s a prayer you can say as often as you’d like. The angels are unlimited and they’re always happy to help everyone simultaneously:
“Dear God and angels, thank you for being with me and guiding and protecting me. Thank you, Michael, for increasing my courage and confidence. Thank you, Raphael, in insuring safe travels for me, my loved ones, and everyone during this holiday season and for ensuring our health. Thank you, Raguel, for helping all of us to be compassionate, kind, and patient with one another. And thank you, Jophiel, for guiding my holiday gift-giving to be enjoyable and well within my budget.”
As you can see, the angels offer very down-to-earth and practical help, because they know this is what will create a peaceful holiday season for us and everyone else.
My prayer is that you’ll remember to include your angels in every part of your holiday season, by talking to them about everything that you feel, need, hope, and desire. They truly are our best friends who can help us to enjoy peaceful, safe, and joyous holidays . . . and every day!
Merry Christmas with love, Doreen Virtue
