Many retail establishments that were closed during covid have now re-opened, so
here are a few reminders to keep the money flowing in and the doors open permanently again. Some of these ideas may sound unusual, but they have worked for years and made many a business owner successful and rich!1. Check for sharp corners or structures outside your shop and within your shop. Things get moved around during closures and it’s important to rearrange furniture if necessary and deflect or remove any poison arrows that are aimed at your entrance or your cashier area within the establishment.
Doors are open and welcoming |
2. Store entrance should attract customers. The entry doors should not be too small to allow the chi to easily flow into the establishment. Do not have furniture with sharp corners pointed toward the entry as this will discourage customers from entering your shop. Be sure the front of the store is well-lit as this will help to “pull” customers into the shop.
3. Ensure that the entry area is free from clutter like boxes or inventory. Even worse is a build-up of trash or old newspapers. When there is clutter at the entry yin energy develops and deters shoppers from entering and purchasing goods.
4. Keep things in balance. Make it easy for the customer to find what they are looking for. Too much merchandise stacked on tables tends to get messy and disorganized.
Place fountain in the Southeast sector of business |
5. Activate the southeast corner for wealth (this is a wealth sector). If it is workable, position your cashier/cash register in this section or the accountant for your business here. Another thing you can do is place a small fountain here with flowing water as this movement represents constant turnover (water creates wood, the ruling element of the SE according to the 5-element theory.)
Note: Don’t have your cashier area facing the toilet or the front door. It should be near the entrance area but not directly facing it. It should be backed against a solid wall for protection. Hint: Install a mirror on the side wall to reflect the cash register/payment area. This represents doubling of turnover.
6. Another good activator is old Chinese coins (represent gold) tied together with auspicious red thread. Keep near the cash register or behind the check-out desk or taped to the cash register or computer.
7. Choose some good luck symbols for your shop or business. It may be one of the Chinese Gods of Wealth or coins or symbols that represent double happiness, long life and prosperity. They don’t have to be visible to everyone – work them into the décor of your business!
8. Be pleasant to your customers. Treat them well and with kind attention. Help with their purchase but don’t be overbearing. Smile a lot!
Good luck!
Lillian
