The 1 Thing You Should NEVER Do When Setting Goals

When you set your goals, don’t look in the mirror.

Why?
Because when you look in the mirror, what do you see?
You see yourself, naturally.
But what do you REALLY see?
For most of us, we see our own faults, insecurities, failures, shortcomings, what’s WRONG with us, what we think we CAN’T do, what we tell ourselves we SHOULDN’T do.
STOP.
Stop setting your goals by looking in the mirror.
I’m not suggesting that you shouldn’t feel good about yourself. Of course you should.
What I am saying is that rather than looking in the mirror to see what you’re capable of, look to your Future Self.
This is the habit I call Stepping Into Your Best Future.
The mirror shows you what you ARE – or, more precisely, what you THINK you are (which are usually very different things).
We tend to overestimate what we can do in a day, but underestimate what we can do in a year.
We tend to overestimate others and underestimate ourselves.
It’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking, “I can’t do it because…”
What’s hard is to keep working, even when the results aren’t what you expected or wanted.
