6 Tips to Ease Busyness

Tip #1:  Keep a schedule.
In the midst of busyness, it’s so easy to get distracted. Things that don’t need to get done pop up, and we do them.

Maybe they’re easier; perhaps they’re a simple distraction from a more unpleasant task; perhaps we want to feel like we’ve accomplished something—anything.
However, if you decide that a particular task
is THE one you must do, put it on your schedule.
Allot an adequate amount of time to complete it.
Keep at it until the next scheduled item is due.
You’ll feel more like you’ve accomplished what you wanted to accomplish if you stick with your plan.

Tip #2:  Prioritize. Prioritize. Prioritize.
I tell my clients this all the time. You must prioritize what needs to be done so you get the most important tasks done first.
A mentor of mine says, “Time management
issues are prioritization issues.”
Let’s say you must cook a certain meal that’s on your weight loss plan for dinner, you need to get a document to the notary’s office, and you are in the midst of packing for a move.
What do you do first? Does the notarized document come before the meal preparation? Depending upon multiple factors, you may decide to deal with the document first.
Now your list reads:
1) Notarize document
2) Cook meal
Packing…is it more important to do that before the other two or can it be done later? Depending upon what you decide, you insert it into the above list where appropriate.
You get the point. The more you do this, the more you create a prioritized list that you can then take steps to get completed.
